Take a Walking Tour: there are three historic districts with homes, stores, and churches dating to the early 1700's. A don't-miss site: Tryon Palace, an elegant Georgian-style restored mansion set on fourteen acres of grounds with extensive gardens, ranging from English to kitchen gardens. The palace is furnished with an outstanding collection of antiques and art. Middle Street has lots of great restaurants. Baker's Square has home-cooking, and Almond Tree Café takes first place for the best ice cream. By all means, bring your family to this resort! The one-bedroom suites are spacious, some up to 1500 square feet, and comfortably sleep four to six guests. All suites have kitchens with microwave and dishwasher, but if you really want to cook, ask for a unit with a full kitchen.
