Gillette Motel

In 1957, Carl Gillette started the Gillette Motel. It began as a simple six rooms alongside his family home. Raising the family with two businesses – Gillette Motel and Gillette Plumbing and Heating/Air Conditioning – kept all involved very busy. As Gatlinburg continued to grow up around them, Gillette also continued adding to the Motel, until the last addition in 1974 brought it to where it is today. Gillette Motel now spans a block long and contains 80 rooms. But unlike many chain motels, not all the rooms at the Gillette are exactly the same. Every room contains the usual amenities, hairdryers to mini fridges and microwaves, but many have their own special charm: some feature jacuzzis, seating areas, a private balcony, etc. And then there is the Gillette Suite, where the Gillette Family lived for a time. The Gillette Suite features a fully equipped kitchen, spacious seating area, and an optional attached suite with locking door between. Now, this family favorite is available to our guests.
